Life drawing
Nude Study, work in progress. Pencil on 14" x 17" paper
It takes a lot of time. I did this over a period of 7 weeks in 3 hour sessions. The first few weeks I was practicing the block in and the worked up drawing was done in a bout 5 weeks or about 15 hours.
It is a very good way to start a drawing as you can correct angles and tilts, perspective and proportions before the drawing gets to far along.
You keep subdividing and this gives a good solid form to build on.
I tried this approach after reading Ryder's book about nude drawing, and though it doesn't fit my way of working (a more direct drawing), it really works. Nice blog by the way, added to favourites :-)

I would not have expected one to be able to get from the blocking-in to this. Very nice.
